Australian-born actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his New York apartment, of an apparent pill overdose. NYPD investigators found pills strewn near where Ledger lay in bed, some of which were sleeping pills.His family denies that the death was a suicide. According to news.com.au, Ledger had been taking the pills for at least several months. In a November interview with the NY Times, Ledger said he "stressed out a little too much" and was taking Ambien.
Ledger was best known for his role as gay cowboy Ennis in Brokeback Mountain. He leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose.
